Stimulus funds could enhance broadband access for all

JEFFERSON — More than $2 million of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) money could be made available to Ashtabula County to provide and extend broadband service.

High speed Internet access has become necessary for success in many areas. Children need it at home to research for homework and obtain subject matter for assignments. In business, many companies need it for credibility and increased productivity. So with an estimated 59 percent of households having high speed Internet, Hancock County must aim higher, said an official hired by the state to help the cause.
