Governor Applauds Rural Broadband Investments in Ohio

Columbus, Ohio--Ohio Governor Ted Strickland today applauded three Ohio broadband projects that will receive more than $9.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act loans and grants to expand broadband access to rural Ohioans.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the awards today, which are part of a total $254.6 million investment in 22 broadband infrastructure projects nationwide. The projects will give rural residents access to improved economic and educational opportunities.

Connect Ohio, a nonprofit, technology-neutral, public-private partnership that was established by Strickland's Broadband Ohio initiative, assisted these awardees by providing assistance with localized technology plans, maps and research to enable broadband expansion across the state...
