LISBON - Just days after officials reaffirmed their commitment to bringing high-speed Internet service to all of Columbiana County, the county Port Authority announced it has achieved that goal.
Port Authority Chief Executive Officer Tracy Drake said they have entered into a tentative agreement with Omnicity Corp., an Indiana-based company specializing in bringing high-speed, or broadband, wireless Internet to underserved communities and rural areas. "This is what we've been trying to do for the last three to four years," he said.
The news comes less than a week after county commissioners adopted a resolution in support of efforts of an organization that is working with Connect Ohio, a nonprofit group hired by the state to work with counties and local Internet providers to develop a plan for expanding broadband access...
