New Internet provider to reach rural areas

TRENTON — A national high-speed Internet provider is set to launch service in Trenton. its first Ohio market, this weekend.
Open Range Communications was in Trenton this week to pre-sell services for its network before it goes live. Open Range will also go live throughout Greene and Montgomery counties in Bellbrook by the end of the month and in Clayton, Tipp City, Moraine, Greenville and Wilmington by year’s end, said Ruth Ann Cooper, Open Range Ohio and Indiana general manager.
At least 60 sales jobs are available in the region.
The new Internet option can help cut prices where other service is available and provide a choice in more rural areas, said Don Shirley, Connect Ohio state operations manager for Southwest Ohio. Open Range will be competing with Time Warner Cable, Cincinnati Bell and locally grown fixed wireless companies, among others.
